Piran Harte established HC in 2017. He is a furniture and woodwork conservator with over 20 years experience in commercial and museum settings, having graduated with a BA (hons) in Furniture Conservation in 2004. Based in a secure studio in West London, HC accepts commissions ranging from individual items to entire collections or large scale projects.
About HC
Clients range from private collectors, other conservation studios, museums, local authorities, trusts and foundations. Work carried out by HC will have complete discretion and confidentiality if required.
Example projects undertaken include:
- Movement, storage and conservation treatments to all fine furniture items in the ‘Cottonain Collection’ or The Box, Plymouth.
- Conservation treatments and relocation of items and re-hanging of art works for a significant private collection.
- Restoration/conservation of Alfred Waterhouse furniture items for Manchester Town Hall.
- Conservation of furniture items for The National Trust, either on site in properties or removed to HC studio for treatments. Notably complete conservation of the drawing room at Scotney Castle.
In addition to practical conservation treatments, Piran has been Chair & Treasurer of the Institute of Conservation Furniture and Wood Group Committee, has sat on the Canal and River Trust’s Collection review panel, acted as a UNESCO expert adviser, was trustee of Hermitage River Projects, tutored on Furniture courses at West Dean Collage of Art & Conservation and is currently Woodworker in Residence at mental health charity Cathja.
